Install Firefox 24 in Fedora 19, 18 and 17

What’s New and What’s Changed in Firefox 24
Firefox 24 comes with a number of improvements. Here’s a sample of what’s new and what’s been changed:

Support for new scrollbar style in Mac OS X 10.7 and newer
Implemented Close tabs to the right
Social: Ability to tear-off chat windows to view separately by simply dragging them out
Accessibility related improvements on using pinned tabs (see 577727)
Removed support for Revocation Lists feature (see 867465)
Performance improvements on New Tab Page loads (see 791670)
Major SVG rendering improvements around Image tiling and scaling (see 600207 )
Improved and unified Browser console for enhanced debugging experience, replacing existing Error console
Removed support for sherlock files that are loaded from application or profile directory
Replace fixed-ratio audio resampler in capture code with Speex resampler and eliminate pseudo-44000Hz rate ( see 886886)

How to Install Firefox 24 in Fedora 19, 18 and 17
1. Open a terminal window.

2. Type in the following commands then hit Enter after each.


rpm -Uvh remi-release-19.rpm

yum list firefox

yum install firefox

  1. Firefox 25.0 was installed in my Fedora 19 today Saturday 12-7-2013 with no problem at all. Works great and thank you very much. It was always like going to war just to upgrade Firefox and the next biggest step – will it work after the update, upgrade. Usually didn’t. Miracle when it did. This is the future answer on how to install the newest version of Firefox in Fedora 19.
